My time at Sheffield Place was a turning point for me. Today, I live independently with all four of my children and work full-time as a peer support specialist at a local drug treatment center. My role allows me to connect with others who are struggling with addiction, much like I once did. I also continue to benefit from Sheffield Place’s aftercare program, which has been instrumental in my ongoing recovery.
My path wasn’t always this positive. For over half of my life, I was trapped in the cycle of drug use, primarily meth, starting at just 14. Meth was a constant presence in my life, with my parents and relatives also caught in its grip. In June 2023, I entered a 28-day treatment facility. By July 19, I had moved into Sheffield Place. Initially, I tried to do anything I could to convince myself this was not the right place for me. However, I knew in my heart and deep down after I was able to get honest with myself that the structure and the accountability turned out to be exactly what I needed. I had never had either of those. I was committed to making it work, and today, my life has transformed remarkably.
I have reunited with my children, secured a full-time job with benefits, and even repaired my car, which now has legal tags and insurance. Most importantly, I’ve celebrated 16 months of sobriety. I continue to be supported by the dedicated team at Sheffield Place, including my case manager, my therapist, and the incredible women I’ve met through the program. Thank you for being a part of my journey.
